Back in May, Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning of Raleigh accepted a call from a wonderful man named Jimmy from the Raleigh metro who told our team about a remarkable project he was planning for his neighbor Kyla.
Kyla Tracy is a sweet nine year-old girl who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease. She is dependent on a wheelchair to move around and her house was not wheelchair accessible, mostly because of the size of the chair. When Jimmy became aware of the issue, he considered remodeling the Tracy family’s residence to make it entirely wheel-chair accessible. However, due to the age of the home, the task was going to be more work than he initially planned. Not yet defeated, Jimmy chose to try transforming the Tracy family’s carport into a wheelchair accessible apartment, which would come complete with Kyla’s own playroom, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen area.
Excited, Jimmy started calling local businesses, including building supply companies, plumbers, and electricians and everyone said they would be honored to help and provide services and supplies. He asked Service Experts of Raleigh for the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) piece of Kyla’s new mini suite. Two of Service Experts employees went to Kyla’s home to ask more about the renovation and were amazed by how bright and friendly Kyla was and they knew they had to contribute.
Kyla’s father, Jared Tracy, said he expected to pay for the $12,000 heating and AC equipment for his little girl’s new living area, but with the generosity of Lennox and RE Michel, Service Experts was able to present the Tracy family an invoice that read:
“We are more than honored to present you with a full heating and AC system at not cost as long as we can all have hugs.”
The staff at Service Experts of Raleigh were humbled to help provide such a precious girl with a much-deserved place for her to live that accommodates her wheelchair and allows her to move around safely and efficiently. But it’s not over yet. Kyla’s family is raising money to purchase a wheel-chair compatible van to better transport Kyla and her wheelchair.
